I was sitting on my bed, as I have been for the past 12 hours, trying to decide what the best way to write the one paragraph that I have due tomorrow would be. I have already taken multiple showers, hoping in vain that that would kickstart my writing process. After my last shower, I just stayed in my bathrobe. My room is a furnace and the slightly damp terrycloth bathrobe turned out to be incredibly comfortable. I was just about to get started (yea right) when I heard a knock at my door. A good HA would eagerly say "Come in!" I sat for a moment and wondered why anyone was knocking on my door. Even my friends don't knock. This was my first failure. After a few seconds I say "Come on in!" and a resident walks in. After she got over the shock at the mess that is my room (it's really quite spectacular) she asked me for a mirror. I didn't hear her because I was waiting for her to comment on the fact that I was in my bathrobe. I didn't think to put on pajama's before i answered the door and was thus waiting for the awkwardness to start. Nope, she just wanted a mirror. I asked her to repeat. "Do you have a mirror". See, here's the problem, mirror is one of those funny words that you can have perfect dictation and it will still sound like you're saying it incorrectly. I couldn't place in my head what she wanted and anxiously looked around my room for something that I could give her. I tried to ask questions to figure out what she wanted (again, she was saying mirror perfectly clear, I just couldn't grasp the idea).
"Well I was bored so..."
"Oh! So you want a movie! Please, take one!"
"nooo.....so I cut my hair..."
"Oh...OH! YOU NEED A MIRROR!"
"yea..."
"I don't have one. Sorry!"
I really, really suck at this job.
